Doris Milner (February 18, 1920 - December 28, 2007) was a volunteer wilderness advocate from western Montana who was particularly concerned with the preservation of the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness, the Selway River, and particularly the Magruder Corridor area. She was a life-long member of the Montana Wilderness Association and also served as its president. William P. Cunningham graduated from the University of Montana School of Forestry in 1968 with a thesis entitled "The Magruder Corridor controversy: A case history." After graduating, he joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In 1969 he was stationed in Germany, as a Lieutenant in the 94th Engineer Battalion.
